Stormers fly-half Robert du Preez will be sidelined for 12 weeks as he recovers from his knee injury sustained against the Cheetahs at the weekend.
That was the word from Stormers head coach Robbie Fleck who confirmed that the 22-year-old was bitterly disappointed. Du Preez limped off early in the second half of the Stormers’ 20-10 victory in Bloemfontein.
“He should be fit and ready to go, if all goes well, after the June Tests,” said Fleck.
“It is not the end of his season … and he should be ready before the play-offs.
“He only got the news yesterday from the surgeon, and at least he doesn’t require surgery. Obviously he’s gutted, but that’s rugby.”
Kurt Coleman, who replaced Du Preez against the Cheetahs, is set to wear the number 10 jersey against the Sharks at Newlands on Saturday.
